comply with a collection of information subject to the requirements of the Paperwork Reduction Act unless that collection of information displays a currently valid OMB Control
Number. The OMB Control Number for this information collection is 2120-0042. Public reporting for this collection of information is estimated to be approximately 30 minutes per
response, including the time for reviewing instructions, searching existing data sources, gathering and maintaining the data needed, completing and reviewing the collection of
information. All responses to this collection of information are required to obtain aircraft registration in accordance with 14 CFR Part 47. Send comments regarding this burden

Privacy Act Statement (5 U.S.C. § 552a, as amended):
Authority: The authority for collecting the information is Title 49 U.S.C.
44101 which requires the registration of each United States civil aircraft
as a prerequisite to its operation. An aircraft is eligible for registration
only: (1) if it is not registered under the laws of any foreign country; and
(2) if it is owned by (a) a citizen of the United States; (b) an individual
citizen of a foreign country who has lawfully been admitted for permanent
residence in the United States; or (c) a corporation lawfully recognized
and doing business under the laws of the United States or any State
thereof so long as such aircraft is based and primarily used in the United
States; or (d) a government unit. Operation of an aircraft that is not
registered may subject the operator to a civil penalty.
Purpose: The principal purpose for collecting the information is for aircraft
registration.

•

To the public (including government entities, title companies,
financial institutions, international organizations, and others),
when permitted, information, including aircraft owner’s name,
address, United States Registration Number, aircraft type,
legal documents related to title or financing of an aircraft and
ADB–S summary reports, in order to facilitate aviation safety,
security, and commerce. Emails and telephone numbers of
small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) owners registered
under 14 CFR part 48 will not be disclosed to the Public
pursuant to this Routine Use.

•

To law enforcement, when necessary and relevant to an FAA
enforcement activity.

•

To government agencies, whether Federal, State, Tribal,
local or foreign, information necessary or relevant to an
investigation of a violation or potential violation of law,
whether civil, criminal, or regulatory, that the agency is
charged with investigating or enforcing; as well as, to
government agencies, whether Federal, State, or local
responsible for threat detection in connection with critical
infrastructure protection.

Routine Uses: The information collected will be included in the System of
Records Notice (SORN) DOT/FAA 801, Aviation Registration System, 88
FR 53951 - August 9, 2023 and will be subject to the published routine
uses, including:
Disclosure: Submission of the information is voluntary; however, an
incomplete submission may prevent or delay issuance of your
registration certificate.

PREPARATION: If all data and/or responses are not entered as required
by this form, the application will be returned to the applicant for completion.
Type or print all required information in the appropriate block/space. Except
for signatures, all data must be typewritten or printed. Signatures that are
not digital must be in ink. The name of the applicant should be identical to
the name of the purchaser shown on the applicant’s evidence of ownership.
EVIDENCE OF OWNERSHIP: The applicant for registration of an aircraft
must submit evidence of ownership that meets the requirements prescribed
in 14 CFR Part 47. AC Form 8050-2, Aircraft Bill of Sale, or its equivalent,
must be used as evidence of ownership. If not purchased from the last
registered owner, the applicant must submit conveyances completing the
chain of ownership from the last registered owner to the applicant.
The purchaser under a CONTRACT OF CONDITIONAL SALE is considered
the owner for the purpose of registration and the contract of conditional sale
must be submitted as evidence of ownership.
A corporation that does not meet citizenship requirements must submit a
certified copy of its certificate of incorporation.
REGISTRATION AND RECORDING FEES: The fee for issuing a certificate
of aircraft registration should accompany this application. There is no
recording fee for a bill of sale submitted with the application. A recording fee
is required when a conditional sales contract is submitted as evidence of
ownership. Fee amounts may be found in 14 CFR 47.17 and 14 CFR 49.15.

Except when the most recent registration of the subject aircraft is expired or
cancelled, 14 CFR 47.31(c) provides temporary authority for an airworthy U.S.
aircraft to be operated within the United States without registration. The
temporary authority is valid until the FAA issues the Certificate of Aircraft
Registration or until the date the FAA denies the application. This temporary
authority is not available in connection with any Aircraft Registration Application
received when 12 months have passed since the receipt of the first application
following transfer of ownership by the last registered owner. The applicant must
carry a copy of the signed application in the aircraft as temporary authority to
operate without registration after the fee and evidence of ownership have been
mailed/delivered to the FAA Aircraft Registry.
CHANGE OF ADDRESS: It is the responsibility of an aircraft owner to notify
the FAA Aircraft Registry within 30 days of any change in permanent mailing
and/or physical address. This form may be used to submit a change of
address.

MAILING INSTRUCTIONS: After entering all required data and affixing
necessary signatures, send a copy (IF INK SIGNATURES ARE AFFIXED,
THE ORIGINAL INK-SIGNED COPY MUST BE SENT) of this application
with all appropriate forms and fees to:
