Request for Approval under the “Generic Clearance for the Collection of Routine Customer Feedback” (OMB Control Number: 1525-0012)

Shape1 TITLE OF INFORMATION COLLECTION: Retail store visitor survey data

PURPOSE:

The United States Mint will be conducting research which focuses on capturing insights from attendees at various conventions to understand their motivations for visiting the US Mint booth, satisfaction levels, purchase behaviors, and interests in a variety of potential engagement drivers. The goal is to use this information to enhance booth performance and increase engagement.

This instrument will collect data for an unspecified period of time beginning in December 2024 or January 2025.

Part of the United States Mint’s mission is to produce numismatic coins. Executive Order No. 12862 (September 1993), titled “Setting Customer Service Standards,” establishes a mandate for the government to improve and adhere to best practices when providing customer service directly to the American people, such as by conducting research to determine satisfaction with existing services and to ensure the kind and quality of services offered are aligned with those the public wants (Section 1b). To effectively accomplish these goals, the United States Mint utilizes a combination of accepted research methods that shed light on the awareness, satisfaction and preferences among the public as they relate to collectible coin products and services. This online poll is one of these instruments.

The consequences of not performing this ad hoc poll are the United States Mint’s diminished ability to produce numismatic coin products that the public is interested in. The guidance received from the public through this poll will directly influence design and manufacturing decisions and priorities.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONDENTS:

  • This poll will be open to anyone who visits a United State Mint retail store.
