Any questions?
We’re going to start the recording now and begin our conversation.
How did you first find out about US Cancer Statistics Data Visualizations tool? This website was launched in 2017, how long have you been using it?
(Notetaker shares screen) In general, how do you use cancer data in your work?
What types of cancer data do you typically work with? (for example, incidence, prevalence, or demographics)
What types of cancer data have you used from this website?
What features have you used from the main menu? What other features have you used? (Notetaker will have main menu on shared screen and walk through the headings they have typically used)
At-a-Glance
Geography
Trends
Stage/survival
Prevalence
Screening/Risk Factors
Special Analyses, specifically, cancers grouped by associated risk factors
To what extent is the information presented in an organized manner to you? What recommendations do you have for reorganization?
Each of the menu headings takes you to visualizations (for example, maps and graphs) for the data (Notetaker scrolls through site to show respondents the types of visualizations being referred to). How useful have you found the visualizations to be? What recommendations can you provide on improving the visualizations?
What are some examples of the types of searches you’ve performed (ask that a respondent provide a question that can be answered through the site—that notetaker goes through on screens as instructed)?
What information would be useful to have available to you but is not presented through the current tool?
What other ‘special analyses’ would be helpful to have already available to you?
At the top of each page, there are data interpretation boxes (shown on screen)--
To what extent have you used these tools?
What recommendations can you provide on how to make this type of information more easily accessible to users?
To what extent have you used other cancer statistics websites (for example, the American Cancer Society or National Cancer Institute)? How does this website compare to others that you’ve used?
What specific data are you looking for when you visit these other websites (that aren’t available on the US Cancer Statistics Data Visualizations tool’s site)?
What additional information would make this site your ‘go to’ site when looking for US cancer statistics?
Please share any additional feedback on the tool.
Thank you for your participation today! Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to contact me if you have additional ideas for improvements that we have not discussed today. My email address is listed on the screen.
